Ask James: ‘My Manager Hates Me, What Should I Do?’
James Kavanagh solves your problems the way only a gas bitch can.
Question: There’s one manager in my job who has a very obvious hatred for me – for no reason. She always makes a show of me in front of my colleagues. What can I do to combat this? I kinda want to battle this out on my own. Sinead, Dublin.
Answer: Same happened to me in an old job! It’s all a game of outsmarting them… I too wanted to battle them without help. In my case, they took an immediate dislike to me and in hindsight, it was deffo my giddiness/ confidence that irritated them.
If their dislike toward you isn’t because your bad at your job, and is purely based on them just being an asshole, then show them who’s boss.
I don’t think anyone should take being treated badly by anyone, no matter what the bully’s title or status is. EXCEED at the tasks they give you. Know all the answers. Be two steps ahead of them at all times. Be overly polite. Kill them with kindness.
Honestly, the gratification of you knowing they have NOTHING on you will be stunning.
