The wait is almost over for one of the most exciting series to come to Netflix this year. That’s right Addams Family fans, the release of Wednesday is near.

The streaming platform took to socials just the other day to tease the new series after sharing a two-minute trailer.

As always, fans of the franchise were quick to share their excitement of the news with one commenting, “we’re ready” and another “this looks insane.”

Wednesday is produced and directed by the one and only Tim Burton, which already hints at the excellence we can expect from the show.

Aptly named, the show will centre around Wednesday Addams of the Addams Family, with Jenna Ortega set to play the gothic teenager.

First announced back in February 2021, Wednesday is written by the creators of Superman drama, Smallville and even includes producers who have been involved in other, previous Addams Family projects.

Desribed as a unique mix of fantasy-horror-mystery-comedy, the eight-episode series will follow Wednesday’s years as a student at Nevermore Academy.

According to the official synopsis released by Netflix, the show will chart “Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”

As far as co-stars go you can expect to see Catherina Zeta Jones as Mortcia Addams and Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams. That’s quite the cast!

Back in 1938, the fictional Addams Family first came to life in cartoon form, but are more widely known for their appearances in the ‘60s television series and of course, the iconic ’90s feature films which starred Anjelica Huston (who played Morticia Addams), Raul Juila (Gomez), Christopher Lloyd (Uncle Fester) and Jimmy Workman (Pugsley).

Although we don’t have an exact release date, it will be out sometime this autumn.

WE CAN’T WAIT!!
