Bindi Irwin Got Married And We’re Not Crying, You Are

"There are no words to describe the amount of love and light in my heart right now"

Bindi Irwin, the daughter of late Steve Irwin, got married yesterday in Australia zoo, just hours after the Australian government banned all large weddings amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Sharing the sweetest picture on Instagram, Bindi explained how her perfect day didn’t exactly go to plan.

Following advice from the government, Bindi and her husband, Chandler, made the difficult decision to have very few guests present at their ceremony.

March 25th 2020 ❤️ We held a small ceremony and I married my best friend. There are no words to describe the amount of love and light in my heart right now. We’ve planned this beautiful day for nearly a year and had to change everything, as we didn’t have guests at our wedding. This was a very difficult decision but important to keep everyone safe. We wish all of our friends and family could have been there with us, however it’s lovely that we will be able to share photos and videos. Right now we’re encouraging the world to hold onto hope and love, which will carry us forward during this profound time in history. Today we celebrated life and revelled in every beautiful moment we shared together in our Australia Zoo gardens. Mum helped me get ready, Robert walked me down the aisle, Chandler became my husband and together we lit a candle in Dad’s memory. We shared tears and smiles and love. Thankfully, since we all live at Australia Zoo as a family, we could be there for each other. To everyone reading this – stay safe, social distance and remember LOVE WINS!

“We’ve planned this beautiful day for nearly a year and had to change everything, as we didn’t have guests at our wedding.”

Regardless of the changes the couple had to make, the 21-year-old says that the day was perfect, with her mam, Terri helping her to get ready, and her younger brother, Robert walking her down the aisle,

“Today we celebrated life and revelled in every beautiful moment we shared together in our Australia Zoo gardens.”

“Mum helped me get ready, Robert walked me down the aisle, Chandler became my husband and together we lit a candle in Dad’s memory.” she continued.

Yep, that’s a definite lump in my throat.

The ceremony took place in outdoors at Queensland’s Australia Zoo, where Bindi and her family live. The family have continued Steve’s conservation work and legacy since his tragic passing in 2006.

Bindi’s brother, Robert, also took to social media to share his happiness on the day, saying:

“Today is a day we’ll never forget. I was beyond honoured to walk Bindi down the aisle today.”

He continued: “I know that Dad was with us, and we are all so delighted for your future as husband and wife. I love you both.”

Congratulations Bindi and Chandler!
