Blake Lively Went All ‘International Spy’ With This 40th Birthday Surprise For Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds celebrated his 40th birthday on October 23rd, but his wife Blake stayed uncharacteristically quiet on social media on his big day.

Turns out Ryan didn’t need to worry though, as his wife was planning a very cute surprise behind the scenes. Rather than throw a massive bash in a random NY nightclub, Blake planned an adorable throwback party at the couple’s favourite sushi restaurant, the very place they both fell for one another.

“We fell in love at your restaurant in Boston. We stay in love at your restaurant in NY,” Blake wrote on Instagram, tagging the New York branch of O Ya. “Thank you for the BEST food and memories! You are our FAVOURITE!! Another happy birthday with @vancityreynolds . Hey, Reynolds, I like you a whole lot. Just sayin’…”

Blake’s photo shows the couple, who have two children together, hugging in front of two gold 4-0 balloons, while Ryan holds a photo taken of the pair in the exact same spot on his 36th birthday.

“Best. Birthday. Everrrrr. Courtesy of my wife, buddy, and international spy, @blakelively,” the birthday boy wrote alongside a snap of himself and Blake wearing bunny rabbit masks.

“With huge thanks to my favourite restaurant in NYC,@_o_ya_ — and a special shout out to our children for not ruining everything like they planned.”

Although the party seemed to be pretty intimate, Ryan’s big night did catch the attention of some of Blake’s pals via Instagram. “Thanks guys now I’m drowning in tears of joy,” Taylor Swift wrote in a comment on Blake’s photo, while Karlie Kloss said the couple were “everything goals.”
