Britney Spears and fiancé Sam Asghari have shared the heart-breaking news of their miscarriage.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the pair released a joint statement, saying, “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy.”

“This is a devastating time for any parent.”

“Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along, however we were overly excited to share the good news. “

“Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all your support.”

Ending their statement by asking fans to respect their privacy during this time.

The singer revealed she was pregnant in April, after joking about a “food baby” led to her discovering the pregnancy.

Writing on Instagram, “I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back … I thought ‘Geez … what happened to my stomach ???’ “My husband said ‘no you’re food pregnant silly!!!’ So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby …”

The pregnancy came about after wanting to start a family with Sam for quite a while.

Britney was unable to conceive while under her conservatorship as she needed permission to remove her birth control, but was refused.

Telling the Los Angeles court, “I want to be able to get married and have a baby,”

“I was told right now in the conservatorship I am not able to get married or have a baby.”

Explaining she wanted to have her IUD removed, saying “I could start trying to have another baby, but this so-called team won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don’t want me to have children, any more children.”
