2020 was a good year for music, with a lot of new releases from some of the biggest names in pop.
With many of our favourite celebs releasing new music by adapting to the ongoing health crisis, coming up with different ways to shoot their videos and still create great content, we had a lot of little wins in 2020.
Some of the major albums that scored high this year included Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia, Lady Gaga’s Chromatica, and BTS’ Map of the Soul, but the top selling album of 2020 goes to Taylor Swift for Folklore.
Released in July, Taylor’s eight studio album was not only the first to reach one million copies sold in 2020, but it has now been recognised as the best-selling album of the past year.
According to The Rolling Stones who announced the news, they calculated that Taylor’s album has racked in over 2.3 million copy sales, with the album also breaking Whitney Houston’s record as the longest album in the top position on the Billboard 200.

Not only that, but Taylor is also expected to sweep up during awards season (as per!), the 31-year-old has also been nominated for album of the year for Folklore.
But Folklore wasn’t the only offering from Tay Tay in 2020, the songstress decided to surprise us with a second album in late 2020, releasing Evermore.

Released in December, Evermore was Taylor’s ninth studio album, again hitting over one million copies, giving the star nine incredible studio albums to her name.
