Britney Spears Just Gave Justin Timberlake A Reminder About Their Breakup

And he responded!

Britney Spears took a trip down memory lane last night as she dedicated a post on Instagram to her ex, Justin Timberlake.

The pair who were together for three years before splitting in 2002, we’re one of the – if not the most iconic pop couple in the early noughties. Describing the breakup at the time as “absolutely heartbreaking”, it looks like JT might have been crying another river last night when Britney spoke about the couple’s former relationship.

Dancing at home during quarantine to Justin Timberlake’s track “Filthy”, the star made a remark that she “knows what’s good” while dancing to his video. As you can imagine, fans were floored by the acknowledgement last night that also mentioned how they were “one of the world’s biggest breakups”

“PS I know we had one of the world’s biggest breakups 20 years ago …… but hey the man is a genius !!!! Great song JT ✨ !!!!” the star captioned the video alongside a slew of cheeky emojis including a tongue face.

The video wasn’t posted long when it garnered a lot of attention from famous faces too, including her sister Jamie Lynn and the man of the moment, Mr JT.

Opting for a coy response that involved an array of emojis, Justin Timberlake acknowledged the post by taking the easy route out – not saying anything he could later regret.

Jamie Lynn was also quick off the mark to comment on the post, noting that “blogs are already plotting outrageous stories” but added that she was happy to see her sister having fun.

It is still a mystery as to the real reason behind the breakup of JT and Brit. Rumours of cheating and mistrust on both sides as well as the songs Cry Me A River and Toxic after they parted ways do tell us a lot, but who knows, all we can say for sure is just that it just wasn’t meant to be.

Britney went on to having two children with ex, Kevin Federline, while Justin married Jessica Biel who he shares one son with.

Will this shoutout spark the pair getting back in touch during quarantine? Who knows. But we for one would love to see this pair release a new track together, imagine, it’d be a banger!
