The “glowing from within” minimal makeup trend has been gaining momentum since late 2018. After a couple years of us baking, setting and contouring to beat the band, we started to notice a shift towards more effortless and minimal looks, all around the same time Meghan Markle joined the royal family and became the icon of the simplistic look.
Opting for dewy, glowing skin, simplistic eye makeup and natural lip shades, the new goal was less about defined cheekbones and more about leaving your own skin shine through; your natural pretty.
And thanks to TikTok, our WFH schedules and some of our favourite celebs jumping on the “less is more” bandwagon, the minimal makeup trend has really taken off in the last year.
Just recently, Kourtney Kardashian, a major fan of the effortless lewk, shared how she achieves the “no makeup, makeup” effect in a post for her lifestyle website Poosh.

Giving us a rundown on the steps, her makeup artist Patrick Ta gave fans the lowdown.
Following a “brush-blend-press-fluff-blend-spray technique”, here’s what to do:
1. Apply foundation with a dense brush directly after skincare, “to ensure the skin is fresh and dewy”. Kourtney’s fave foundation? It has to be the Oxygenetix Acne Control Oxygenating Foundation
2. Then, step two, go over the base again, this time with a damp beauty blender to give a “nice, natural finish”.
3. Next apply concealer using a mixture of a blending brush and a concealer brush. Using a loose powder on top to eliminate shine.
4. And finally, spritz the entire face with a hydrating mist for “luminous shine”.
Sorted!
