Laura Whitmore has once again had to address rumours that she’s been replaced on Love Island. It was announced that the Irish presenter would be taking over the show in 2019, after Caroline Flack’s departure at the time.
Since then, Laura has hosted two seasons of the reality show, and over the past few months there have been multiple rumours that she is being replaced. The Bray native has clapped back at these before, and was forced to again over the weekend as it was said that perhaps Maura Higgins or Maya Jama would be taking the reins next.
Over the weekend Laura shared her frustration at these rumours on Instagram stories writing; “Getting pictured outside BBC studios comes with the territory (it’s outside my house I have issue, this is work so I get it).”
“But bloody hell @dailymail EVERY week turning it into the SAME story about someone taking over my job is rude. I’m good at what I do and my bank and diary tells me I’m still doing the job so stop undermining women and making a non story. It’s tiring.”

The last time Laura spoke about this was in August, not long after the latest season finished up. She addressed the rumours saying:
“Some things I don’t comment on as they are so silly but a headline on the front of a paper yesterday that made it look like I died with ‘Whitmore No More’ wow what bad taste considering how they’ve treated other women.
“So it’s probably gonna p*ss them right off as a lot more Whitmore on the telly coming up. And I’d like to thank them for completely exaggerating what I get paid… because now that helped my negotiations for other job contracts!”
The 36-year-old took over the presenting of Love Island after Caroline Flack left the show before her tragic death in February of last year. Speaking about Caroline’s death she said:
“I’m still working through the grief of Caroline Flack’s passing. The past six months are a blur. I haven’t fully coped with it. I don’t think I ever will.”

She also spoke about how Caroline was a mentor to her when she started working on the hit show; “Caroline was very good to me. Before I even got offered Love Island, she messaged me saying, “I really hope you get the job.”
“I love doing it, but the circumstances of being offered it were the worst you could possibly imagine.”
We look forward to see Laura back on our screens for the next season.
