Saoirse Ronan Is Not A Barbie Girl In A Live Action ‘Barbie’ World

But Saoirse still has her fingers crossed that we'll catch her in the flick!

Actress Saoirse Ronan was set to make an appearance in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming live action ‘Barbie’ movie, alongside stars Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie.

Saoirse had previously been in two of Gerwig’s critically acclaimed films, ‘Little Women’ in 2019, and ‘Lady Bird’ in 2017.

But the film star has revealed in an interview with People magazine that a planned cameo in ‘Barbie’ was scrapped due to scheduling conflicts.

Saoirse’s schedule was busy, as she continues filming for ‘The Outrun, The Unforgiveable’ by director Nora Fingscheidtan- an upcoming drama about a recovering alcoholic on the Orkney Islands in Scotland.

“I was supposed to do a cameo because I live in London, and they were [filming] there,” Saoirse explained. “There was a whole character I was going to play – another Barbie. I was gutted I couldn’t do it.”

With ‘Barbie’ set for release in July 2023, the actress has made it clear to the cast of the film that she would still love to take part- by any means!

The Golden Globe award winner went on to say that she has since texted Margot Robbie and Gerwig to say she is still up for a cameo if the opportunity arises for her to appear in ‘Barbie’.

The star joked “I’m like, ’If you’re doing any pick-up [shots], maybe I can just walk through the background?”

Saoirse’s most recent film to come to our screen is ‘See How They Run’ by Tom George, in which she plays a 1950s London police officer, co-staring with Sam Rockwell.

And whilst Saoirse Ronan might not be a Barbie girl – we still are at heart – and can’t wait to see what the film has in store for us!
