Still Wondering Why James Corden Is Hosting The Friends Reunion?

As I'm sure you've seen online, people are not happy about his role in the reunion.

This could be an unpopular opinion but I’m going to roll with it anyways. I think reunion shows shouldn’t happen because fans are never going to be satisfied with them.

By our very nature, we are critical human beings and when we’ve got good grounds to be comparative, we’re even worse. So, when a show we once loved comes back to our screens (after our screams for its return), we’re going to do one thing and one thing only, judge every inch of it in relation to its former self.

Granted, in theory it sounds like a wonderful idea, the cast reunited on screen, a look at ‘where they are now’, a trip down memory lane and a set that feels familiar and comforting, transporting us back to a time in our lives. But in reality, we see the trailer, we feel a bit nostalgic, but we’re overrun by our incessant need to comment on everything from how worried we are about Matthew Perry to how annoyed we are that James Corden is hosting.

As I’ve said previously, I’m sure you’ve seen it all online already. But it’s no wonder stars don’t do reunion shows when they’re predominately met by judgement on their looks and ability to pick up where they left off 20 years ago. I mean, would you put yourself in that position?

But with so many familiar faces making cameos in this highly anticipated reunion from Lady Gaga to Justin Bieber, there was a lot of disdain around James Corden’s role and the reason behind him taking part.

Besides being one of the world’s most successful interviewers, it looks as though James was a sure winner for the role through professional connections. Fulwell 73 is a British television, film and music production company based in London and founded by four men, Gabe and Ben Turner, Leo Pearlman, and Ben Winston. The latter of the four, Ben Winston is directing and executive producing the reunion through Fulwell, a company which James is a partner of.

So, as you can see, it makes sense that he’s the shoo-in for the gig. It looks like that behind the scenes he actually had a big part to play in getting this reunion (that we so begged for) to our screens in the first place, so why would he not present it too? After all, we are getting what we asked for, right?
