All of the rumours, all of the fights, but can he make his second album a hit, or will there be Teardrops?

Former One Direction star Liam Payne’s behaviour has caused concern amongst his legion of fans in recent weeks.

The 31-year-old who has a son, Bear with Girls Aloud alumni, Cheryl Cole, has reportedly been struggling since the release of his single, Teardrops, in March of this year.

The new single failed to make it onto the charts and as a result, his second album is being pushed back. A source told the Sun that, “Liam had been doing really well on his second album but now it’s completely on pause. Liam is telling people now he has no idea if it’ll ever be released.”

It was also reported that the pop star has been struggling since his “former manager, Roger stepped back earlier this year”.

Payne also confused fans when he posted a cryptic video on his Snapchat story explaining how he was going to visit his former bandmate Niall Horan, who was playing a gig in Argentina. In the video he said that he and Horan “needed to talk” but there were “no bad vibes or anything like that”.

This isn’t the first time Payne has worried his fans, the singer sparked controversy when he spoke about an argument with his former bandmates on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast in 2022. The singer claimed he was thrown against a wall by a former One Direction member to which he retaliated saying “If you don’t remove those hands there is a high likelihood you will never use them again”.

Although the star didn’t go as far as to reveal who he got into an altercation with, his former girlfriend, Maya Henry, posted a TikTok video just last week saying, “he told me it was Zayn”.

Payne revealed in a YouTube video titled “I’m back …” in July 2023 that he spent some time in rehab as he had “become someone he didn’t really recognise anymore”. The star addressed the controversial comments he made on the Logan Paul podcast saying, “A lot of what I said came from the wrong place”. He also commended his former bandmates who all “came to the rescue” when he needed them.

The Strip That Down singer also spoke of his journey to sobriety in the video, saying at the time of the video he hadn’t picked up a drink in six months and adding that “the party is over”.

Payne’s love life has been thrown into the spotlight once again as his ex- fiancé Maya Henry, posted a bombshell TikTok video a few days ago. Henry and Payne began dating in 2019 before getting engaged in 2021 and later breaking up in 2022.

The American model reveals that since their breakup the former One Direction star will “blow up” her phone and create new iCloud accounts to iMessage her.

She also added that he also blows up her mom’s phone trying to get in contact with her.

The model posted the TikTok in response to fans of Payne accusing her of being “obsessed with him” and how “she should keep his name out of her mouth”. The model also refers to her new fictional novel, Looking Forward, in the video which is said to be based on true events.

The book tells the story of model, Mallory and her tumultuous relationship with ex-boyband member, Oliver – sound familiar? It looks like Henry and Payne have a whole lot of history left to unpack here.

So maybe that One Direction reunion will be happening…like…never.
