Chris Brown Has Been Released Without Charge After Being Accused Of Rape In Paris

"I WANNA MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR... THIS IS FALSE AND A WHOLE LOT OF CAP!"

Singer Chris Brown has been released without charge after being held overnight by French police on suspicion of rape.

Earlier this week the French media reported that a 25-year-old woman had accused Brown, along with two other men, of assaulting her in a Paris hotel room on the night of January 15.

He was detained yesterday on suspicion of aggravated rape along with a drug offence, and released last night after being questioned by police.

The Paris prosecutor is continuing its investigation into the alleged incident, while Brown’s lawyer says the singer intends to sue for defamation.

He later took to Instagram to deny the allegations, posting a graphic that read “This Bitch Lyin'” as well as screengrabs of headlines about his release.

Brown has had several brushes with the law over the years – in 2009, he received five years’ probation and a community service order for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna. Five years later, he pleaded guilty to assaulting a fan who asked for a photo with him.

In 2016, he was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a woman accused him of threatening her with a gun. He was later freed, with his lawyer saying the accusations were “demonstrably false”.
