Chris Rock Might Be Hosting The Oscars In 2023
Bring Chris back!
Chris Rock could get another shot at hosting the Oscars, he has previously hosted in 2015 and 2016 and this year while he presented an award, he was infamously slapped by Will Smith over a joke about his wife Jada.
Craig Erwich, head of ABC Entertainment has said he is open to Chris returning as host, this may work out perfectly as Will Smith (who slapped Chris on stage during this year’s awards) is now banned from the Oscars for the next ten years…
Next year’s Oscars is expected to take place on Sunday March 12th 2023.
Although it was memorable for all the wrong reasons this year, Craig was still delighted with how it went and expects the awards to continue to improve.
Speaking to Deadline he said, “My assessment of the Oscars was that it was really a successful year for the show…Obviously, there was a lot of controversy, which overshadowed a lot of the positive things about the show, but I was really happy with the program. Even before that very unfortunate moment, the show started off up year over year, and we came back in a big way.”
Taking to social media after this year’s awards, Will Smith shared a statement about his actions after having some time to reflect, he admitted that he was wrong and apologised to Chris.

“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable,” he began.
Continuing on, Will said that he understands that jokes will be thrown his way as an actor, however hearing someone make a joke about his wife Jada’s medical condition was a huge trigger for him, resulting in him lashing out ’emotionally’.
“Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally”
Will then issued a series of apologies, with Chris at the top of the list.
“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness”
“I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees, and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family”
Concluding his statement, Will said that he’s currently working on himself to become a better person.
“I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress. Sincerely, Will.”
