Coldplay Have Announced Their Next Album, But Not How We Were Expecting

We weren't expecting this.

It’s not everyday Coldplay releases a new album, but how they’ve released the news is turning heads.

These days, it’s pretty rare that we actually see something done in an old-fashioned kind of way (unless we’re talking about the cocktail, but never mind that for now), so it can really come as a shock when the music industry in particular isn’t trying to be futuristic 24/7.

Over the years, we’re used to being shocked by artists in the music industry (both for the good and the bad) but Coldplay have really grabbed our attention this time. They’ve announced their brand new album, by writing a good aul’ letter to their fans. Yep, that’s right. A letter.

Only recently, the band posted a five-second teaser to Instagram page, showing a black-and-white photo of The Wedding Band & Dance Orchestra. Then, they released hand-written letters to 100 of their fans.

If you haven’t been lucky enough to receive the letter, it read: “Dear friends, my typing isn’t very good I’m sorry, I and we hope wherever you are you’re ok. For the last 100 years or thereabouts we have been working on a thing called Everyday Life, in the classifieds you might write ‘double album for sale, one very careful owner’.”

“One half is called ‘sunrise’, the other ‘sunset’, it comes out 22 November, it is sort of how we feel about things. We send much love to you from hibernation. Chris, Jonny, Guy and Will Champion, esq.”

Released on November 22nd, their first studio album in four years album will actually be a double album. One named Sunset and the other, Sunrise. We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to give it a listen.
