Derry Girls recently returned to our screens for the first time in three years, with the premiere of the third series. But it’s arrival is bittersweet as this will be the last ever season of the show. No need to be upset though, as it seems we could be getting a replacement to fill the Derry Girls shaped hole in our hearts.
Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, who plays Michelle, has revealed she is writing some scripts of her own.
Telling the Sunday Life, “I do write scripts. I’ve got a few projects happening at the moment. There’s no deadline for them or anything — it’s leisurely at the moment — but, yes, I’m writing away.”
While she kept quiet on the details, the actress did share what her writing process is like, “My writing doesn’t have any rhyme or reason at the moment: it’s just writing stuff down as good ideas come to me alongside work or during breaks.”

But we will be getting more details on her secret writing project soon. As she explains, “I’m going to continue my writing — I’ve a couple of goals there and I’m sure people will hear about them at some point — just keep being creative, keep expressing what I can where I can.”
Writing isn’t her only passion right now as Jamie-Lee is loving her acting work at the moment, and is hoping for an action film in the future. “I feel like I’m doing really good projects and working with really great people; I just hope that it continues. I’d love to do something with action someday, something really physical.”
“I’m working on something at the moment with Channel 4 that will probably be announced in the next couple of months.”
“And we’ve just been greenlit for another project. I can’t say what any of it is, but this year is looking good. So far so good.”
We can’t wait for more details!
