Dream Dinner Party… With Irish Rapper Celaviedmai

"First off, I have to invite Beyoncé"

Celaviedmai is having a great year.

The rapper and song writer is quickly becoming one of the most exciting names in Irish hip-hop.

She’s playing festivals, she’s doing gigs, and now she’s one of Culture Night’s Ambassadors too.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the love and support, but there’s still so much work to be done in our community to take things to even bigger heights,” she tells STELLAR. “I’m just one voice in a growing movement, and together we can really make something special happen.

“I’m super excited to perform in Limerick for Culture Night because I love that city so much. I’m just as hyped to discover new artists and see what they’re bringing to the table, there’s so much on, it’s tough to choose what to go to!”

You’re throwing your dream dinner party. If you could choose from anyone in the world, who would be your ideal guests

First off, I have to invite Beyoncé. I mean, who wouldn’t? Everyone knows I adore her, she’s the ultimate when it comes to performance, discipline, and perfection. I’d love to just sit down and hear how she stays so focused and constantly pushes the boundaries of her art. Obviously we’re all signing NDAs though.

Next up would be Calvin Harris. The guy is just ridiculously talented, and I’ve been a huge fan of his work for a long time. I’d definitely want to pick his brain about how he creates such bangers, and… just maybe I could even convince him to collaborate on something… Call me, Calvin.

And finally, I’d have to have Kaytranada at the table. His creativity is unreal, and I’m dying to know where his inspiration comes from. Plus, a dinner party vibe with him in the room would be unmatched.

Besides interrogating them on some music talk, I’d also make sure it’s a night full of incredible conversations about life and immaculate vibes.

Would you have a theme or a dress code?

Without a shadow of a doubt it would be Throwback Vibes: 90s & 00s Edition. Everyone loves a good dose of nostalgia… but I’m not talking fake wanna be Y2K trends.

Think oversized bottoms matched with something tight fitting, lots of denim, animal print, braids, graphic tees and ridiculous sunglasses.

What are you cooking? Is it a lavish affair or low-key nibbles?

Oh, it’s definitely going to be a laid-back vibe but tasty. Everything would have to be vegan, of course. I’d be whipping up a dish called Puff Puff, which is basically these amazing fried doughnut-like balls, super fluffy and addictive.

Time to get ready! What are you wearing?

I’m definitely going with something along the lines of the iconic co-ord Beyoncé wore in the ‘Bills, Bills, Bills’ video – the one from the salon scene.

Everyone’s arriving: what music are you playing to set the mood?

I actually have a playlist on Spotify called CHILL w. Cela and that’s the mood. An unreal blend of RnB, soul, electronic and of course, a mix of Irish and international artists as we should be on playlists with the best of the best.

What are you and your guests chatting about at the table?

Like I said before of course I would want to exchange stories and hear inspiration about music, but I’m sure they would also like to just be people rather than sitting with a fan girl… so I’m open to everything.

Do you have a signature cocktail to serve?

I love cognac/whiskey and cola… but I feel that’s not fancy enough for my guests. So I’d probably do some research on their fave drinks and low key serve them up and act nonchalant…

What about dessert? Sweet or a cheese board?

I’m vegan so it’s a no for the cheese board. I do love sweet things though, so I’m still going with my signature vegan Puff Puff layered with powdered sugar.

Is there entertainment?

There will be a DJ set by my friend Onai and then a performance by me (even though that would be the most nerve racking thing in the whole wide world lol – intimate crowds scare me). But then they would all want to sign me so it will be worth it…

How does the night wrap up? Is it a late one, or more chill?

I’m not really a party girly unless I’m with the right company. So this night’s most definitely a late one. Purr.
