Love Island’s Ekin Su Feels Her And Ex Davide Prioritised Social Media Over Each Other

When Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti emerged as the Love Island winners for the 2022 series, everyone was convinced they’d go the distance.

But after the pair’s shock split last month, Ekin–Su has lifted the lid on the couple’s relationship and revealed she feels they should have kept things more private.

In a new interview with Spin Genie, Ekin–Su speaks about how there’s a huge amount of pressure to retain an online presence when you leave Love Island.

“When you come out of the villa, you have this pressure to be the couple that everyone loves and the couples who vlogs or goes on TikTok. But that’s just pleasing for the fans and you’re not focusing on pleasing each other.”

She continued to explain how prioritising social media may have led to her and Davide’s break up.

“You’ve accidentally put social media on the pedestal and not each other. That’s what I’ve realised I need to do in future relationships. Put the public bit to one side and keep those cute little moments for each other. You’ve got nothing to prove to fans.”

Ekin Su continued, “You’ve got to make sure that your relationship isn’t focused on the show and what fans think of it. Personally, I’ve learnt from my recent split that the more private you are and the more of your relationship you keep to yourself, the more real it is.”

As for what’s next for Ekin Su and single life, the reality TV star shared that 2024 is the year for self improvement.

“I’m trying to get into the best shape for my mental and physical health. This year is all about me…I’ll eat chocolate one day and then eat clean the next. It’s all about balance. I’m putting myself first this year and I want to feel my best. Especially with my 30th approaching too!”

And her new mantra is all about gratitude.

“I’m grateful I’m alive, happy and doing well. I have positive people around me and I’m happy and nice. I love being a nice person without wanting anything in return. That makes me who I am.”
