Ellie Goulding Reveals She Hasn’t Seen Her Mother Since She Got Married

It has been over a year since Ellie last saw her mother.

Ellie Goulding has opened up about her difficult relationship with her mother.

The singer admitted it’s been almost a year since she’s seen mam Tracey.

She went on to say that she would like to speak publicly about it but feels she can’t.

“It’s frustrating because I really want to talk to you about it,” she told The Independent. “But she became quite threatening when I did talk about her in the press. Discussing her was a disaster.”

“I haven’t seen my mother since my wedding last year,” she said. Ellie married Caspar Jopling in York Minster Cathedral in August 2019.

“I’ve done a lot of therapy about it because what I thought was fixable isn’t fixable,” she added.

The Love Me Like You Do singer went on to say that she knows many people have strained relationships with their parents and that no one is alone.

“I think a lot of women have difficult relationships with their mothers and we find it hard to talk openly about that. I was talking to another woman earlier today who isn’t in contact with her mother and finds that deeply scarring,” she explained.

Ellie explained that while she won’t go into much detail publicly, she is using these strong feelings to write in her music.

“I hope one day I’ll be able to get this off my chest. But for now, I know it comes bubbling through my subconscious, through my music.”
