It’s been one hell of a wait, but Love Island finally returned to our screens last night. And it’s safe to say we weren’t disappointed.

While we’d already met our Love Islanders, there was one thing fans couldn’t stop saying about Hugo Hammond.

The 24-year-old beat 100,000 other entries to land himself a spot on the show. He signed up because, ‘I’ve been single for a while now. With the current climate, it’s been really hard to get back into dating. I saw it as an opportunity to have an amazing fun summer and put myself back out there.”

Hugo revealed that he is a PE teacher and fans couldn’t help but imagine how awkward it must be if he was your teacher right now. The dedicated Love Island group chat would be on fire!

We admit that during last night’s show, we had one eye on the show and the other on our phones checking for hilarious memes. And it’s clear Love Island Twitter is well and truly back.

One fan tweeted, “Me just knowing Hugo’s students are writing down quotes to list back to him when ever he is teaching #LoveIsland #hugo.”

While Hugo’s students are possibly having the time of their life, former Love Islander, Kem Cetinay gives his own two cents on the PE teacher.

Speaking on Capital Breakfast yesterday, he told hosts Rob Howard and Lauren Layfield how he felt about Hugo.

“Every school had that PE teacher that everyone fancied. I remember in school everyone loved the PE teacher, and that is this year,” he said.

“Hugo- what a name as well, Hugo is the best name in the world, don’t you think?”

Between, Hugo’s kind character, having ‘the best name in the world’ and being a PE teacher, we can’t wait to see more of this Love Islander throughout the summer!
