Alright Dead to Me fans, it’s been over two years since we were last treated to Jen and Judy’s chaotic antics but FEAR NO MORE as we’ve just been given word of when we can expect to see the pair on our screens again – and it’s pretty soon!!
Yes, the twisty drama starring Christina Applegate as Jen and Linda Cardellini as Judy will return for the third and final season of creator Liz Feldman’s series on 17th November.
Netflix announced the highly anticipated return date as part of its Tudum promotion at the weekend along with a teaser trailer, so we thought why not do a breakdown of what we know about the brand new season?
Who’s Back
Apparently everyone!! Of course, in addition to Christina and Linda, fans can expect to see the return of Diana Maria Riva, who plays Detective Perez, Sam McCarthy and Luke Roessler as Jen’s kids, Charlie and Henry, as well as James Marsden as Ben. But it’s hard to tell how much of a role he will play considering his massive car accident in the season 2 finale.

Filming Has Wrapped
Liz confirmed back in April that, “filming is complete [and] editing is underway,” which was a delight to hear as production on season 3 had been delayed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sadly, while this will be the last season of the show, it was always intended to be a short-lived series with Liz revealing to The Hollywood Reporter, “Halfway through shooting season two, an idea came to me that felt very true to the show — and I realised that it could be a really great way to end it.”

The Plot
Getting straight into it, the third season picks up after another finale cliffhanger when Jen and Judy got into a major car accident after being struck by drunk-driving Ben, who then fled the scene.
Following on from that, the mysterious disappearance of Steve has also not been solved so we assume details of this will unravel with Ben (Steve’s twin brother) planning to avenge his death in some way.

Your First Look
As previously mentioned, the trailer for Dead to Me season 3 was released during the Tudum fan event, and while the first-look clip doesn’t give too much away about the final season, we are given an amusing recap of where we last left Jen and Judy which leads to the two besties in the hospital following that huge car accident.
