EYNTK About The ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’ Adaption

We’re too excited about this!

Fans of Delia Owens ‘Where The Crawdads Sing” will be overjoyed to hear that the best selling book is currently being adapted into a dramatic feature film – and the trailer they just released is giving us chills.

So, what do we know about the film? For those who haven’t read the book, the story follows Kya, a lonely girl who raises herself in the North Carolina marshes and becomes a suspect in the murder of a man she was once involved with. And who will be playing the leading lady? None other than Daisy Edgar Jones, who is well on her way to stardom since her success in Normal People.

Jones shared a first look at the film with Vanity Fair on her Instagram, with a caption saying she’s ‘so excited💛’.

You may have noticed another exciting tidbit in the trailer – yup, that’s Taylor Swift’s voice singing a brand new song ‘Carolina’ written especially for the film. Swift let us in on her process in an Instagram post;

‘‘ ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’ is a book I got absolutely lost in when I read it years ago. As soon as I heard there was a film in the works…I knew I wanted to be a part of it from the musical side. I wanted to create something haunting and ethereal to match this mesmerizing story. You’ll hear it fully soon…”

The film will be produced by Reese Witherspoon’s company Hello Sunshine alongside SONY, and directed by relative newcomer Olivia Newman. It’s set for release in the US on July 15th – and we hope it’ll hit Irish screens soon after!

Excuse us while we go back for another re-read…
