Fancy Watching TV For A Living? Gogglebox Is (Finally) Looking For An Irish Cast
Could you be Ireland's answer to Scarlett Moffatt?
Reckon you’re louder than Scarlett? Do you drink as many G&Ts as Steph and Dom? Do you burst into tears watching the Six One News more often than Jenny and Lee?
Well, it’s good news for you then, because Gogglebox is finally en route to Ireland, and is looking to cast a whole host of quirky couples, friends and families to watch TV in front of the cameras.
TV3 first announced plans for an Irish version of the hugely popular Channel 4 show this time last year, but put plans on hold after the station was acquired by Virgin Media.
Despite the delays though, Gogglebox is still en route, and casting will begin in a few weeks for a proposed Autumn 2016 start date, according to the Irish Independent.
Casting for such a high-investment show can take “up to six months,” a spokeswoman told the Irish Times last July.
Further plans for a revival of Blind Date to be hosted by Lucy Kennedy were axed by TV3’s new Director of Content Lynda Quaid, but the spokesperson added that Gogglebox was still “very much” on the table.
