Fans Are Angry At Love Island Star, Zara Holland For Breaching Covid Rules In Barbados

Hundreds have signed a petition for her to be punished for her actions.

It seems not a day goes by when we aren’t seeing a celeb on holidays whilst we’re at home in our pj’s during our third lockdown. One thing 2020 has taught us is that there seems to be different rules for celebs and the rest of us, as our lifestyle during Covid is mostly Netflix and takeaways compared to influencers on trips to Dubai.

It can be frustrating to see this playing out on our social media feeds, but even more so when they’re in direct breach of the rules.

Love Island star, Zara Holland and her boyfriend, Elliot Love have come under fire this weekend as they seemingly broke Covid regulations whilst on holiday in Barbados.

The couple tested positive whilst in Barbados and were given positive wristbands to wear whilst they waited to be moved to a quarantine centre, located in a military base.

Allegedly the hotel called the police after they found the bands cut off in their room and the couple travelled to the airport to attempt to catch a flight home. They were then stopped at the airport by authorities and brought to the centre.

Elliot is apparently still there but Zara has since been released and there are now calls to arrest the couple for flouting the rules. In Barbados this means a possible jail sentence or an £18,00 fine.

A petition (which so far has over 5oo signatures) has been started online that is looking for a custodial sentence to be brought on the pair who they believe have; “undermined the huge amount of work that had been done by the government and people of Barbados to suppress community transmission and the didn’t just risk the livelihoods of Bajans, the risked their lives.”

“If one single person dies as a result of their selfish and cowardly actions, then they should be charged with murder. Either way, we strongly believe they should receive a custodial sentence, either in Barbados or the UK, for wantonly endangering the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.”

Zara has released a statement apologising for her actions; “I firstly wish to apologise to the entire country of Barbados for what has been a massive mix up and misunderstanding during my most recent stay.”

“I am currently working closely with the local authorities to rectify any issues on my part and will issue an update and full statement which I think is the only right thing to do to the Government and citizens of Barbados.

The 25-year old continued; “I have been a guest of this lovely island in excess of 20 years and would never do anything to jeopardise an entire nation that I have nothing but love and respect for and which has treated me as a family.”
