Fans Are Losing It At This Surprise Cameo In The New Derry Girls Episode

Fans of the show Derry Girls were in for a surprise this week when watching the first episode of what’s set to be the last season of the show (booo!).

The hype for the third and final installment of the hit series has been unmatched, with hundreds crowding around their tellies to find out what the Our Lady Immaculate girls have been getting up to since we left them at the end of season two. To everyone’s shock and delight, we not only got to see all the familiar faces of the cast, but also an extra special guest – none other than iconic Irish actor Liam Neeson!

The ‘Taken’ star surprised viewers when he popped up in the episode playing an RUC inspector, and his famous stoic acting style fit the role perfectly, with everyone in stitches over a hilarious scene where he questioned the girls over their antics.

It makes sense that Neeson was approached for the celeb cameo, as the actor is Northern Irish himself, and is allegedly a ‘huge fan’ of the series, with Saoirse Monica Jackson (Erin on the show) even joking that Liam was ‘nervous’ to film – how cute is that!

Speaking of the show himself, Neeson said ‘It’s such a unique and special show with real heart… to see the lives of ordinary, funny people living in Northern Ireland during The Troubles played out in a Channel 4 comedy’. He’s dead right, too.

Fans took to Twitter following the episode release to share their glee at the surprise appearance, with one person joking that this has to have been the best kept secret in all of Derry!
