First Look At Kate Middleton And Prince William’s Characters In The Crown Season Six

Casting updates are nothing new for Netflix’s period drama The Crown, with the show bringing in new stars for every generation of the British royal family. And the upcoming sixth season will also see the cast expand, as Prince William and Kate Middleton’s characters join the series.
We did see a bit of William’s character is the latest season, following him during his teen years, with the prince being being played by 15-year-old Rufus Kampa.
But season six will follow William during his University days, when he meets wife Kate Middleton at St. Andrews University. Last year it was announced that newcomer Meg Bellamy would take on the role of Kate, and Ed McVey will be playing the prince.
And now we finally have a look at the pair in character, rocking some classic noughties fashion.

Making things even more exciting is the way Meg and Rufus were discover. According to Deadline, the pair sent in self-taped videos following a casting call on social media. Considering how many people most have applied it’s basically a modern day Cinderella story, minus the glass slipper.
Both actors shared their delight to be joining the hit series.
Sharing the good news on Instagram, she wrote: “Pinch me please..So excited to announce that I will be playing Kate Middleton in Series 6 of Netflix’s ‘The Crown’.”
“It is such an honour to be joining the most incredible cast and crew, and I will strive to do Kate justice.”
While Ed said: “Ahhhhh the big news is now out!!! I’m absolutely buzzing to be given the opportunity to play Prince William in #thecrown in Series 6!!! Along side the amazing [Meg Bellamy] Gunna be an amazing shoot can’t wait to learn all I can!”

The show is currently filming in the couple’s alma mater, with student sharing some BTS glimpses at the upcoming series.
Joining Meg and Ed will be season five’s stars, who will be reprising their roles.
Imelda Staunton, best known for her role in Harry Potter as Dolores Umbridge, will return to portray the queen. Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki will be back as Princess Diana, while Dominic West will also return as Prince Charles.
So far no release date has been set, but seeing as filming is already underway, let’s hope we will have a new season before the end of the year.
