*Iain Sterling voice* Last night, in Love Island news, Laura Whitmore announced that she has left the villa for the last time.

Yep, Laura took to Instagram to announce that she will no longer be hosting the iconic dating show after three years of hosting duties after initially taking over the reins in 2020 for the first-ever winter season of the show when Caroline Flack departed.

Sharing a screenshot from the series, she wrote: “Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love Island.

“There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.

“I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series.”

She concluded: “I hope I did you proud Caroline.”

She was inundated with messages of support from her pals, including many former Islanders who praised her skills.

Maura Higgins wrote: “You will be missed.”

While Dami Hope commented, “You were honestly the best, killed it every time.”

Faye Winter said, “She really would be proud! You done incredibly,” and Shaughna Phillips wrote, “You absolutely did! Going to miss you!”

ITV released their own statement following the news, wishing Laura all the best in her upcoming projects.

“Sadly Laura Whitmore has chosen to leave Love Island. Laura has been a fantastic host across the last three series’ of the show.

“We’re so grateful for everything she has brought to the programme but understand and respect her decision, and we look forward to working with her on upcoming ITV projects.”

Rumours have already begun to swirl about who could possibly take the reins next season. Who would you like to see host Love Island?
