It’s been a few months since the rumours of Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik’s split first came to light, with an insider telling People at last October: “They are not together right now. They are both good parents though… They co-parent.”

They pair were on and off since 2015, and welcomed baby Khai in 2020.

At the time, it also surfaced that there were rumours that Zayn ‘struck’ Gigi’s mother and Real Housewives star, Yolanda Hadid, something which Zayn has denied in a statement.

TMZ first reported that Zayn had allegedly ‘stuck’ Yolanda. The outlet shared that a source with ‘direct knowledge’ informed them that the altercation between Zayn and Yolanda happened some time the previous week of their split, with Yolanda considering filing a police report.

Now, Gigi has revealed the lessons she’s learnt over the last few months in her first interview since the split.

Speaking to InStyle magazine, she shared: “I’ve been reminded that when we get time with people, just really appreciate it and take it all in and try not to wish away moments.

“Even if there’s something hard, find something beautiful in it.”

Continuing, she added: “I’ve always been very trusting, and like a lot of people, I learned the hard way in this industry by being too open in interviews.

“You have to start to calculate your steps, because you went for it with an open heart, and sometimes it doesn’t get portrayed that way. So, in part, yes, I have scaled back. But in the moments when you’re face-to-face with people, you still have to be open.

“You’re only going to have a human experience if you’re fully in the moment. You try not to have those weird voices in your head that come from traumatic experiences.”

Gigi then went on to speak about her daughter, Khai, saying: “I still can’t believe [I made a baby]. It’s wild.

“A lot of my mom friends feel like that, and we’re nearing the first couple years [with our kids]. You’re obsessed with them, but sometimes you turn and you’re like, ‘Oh my God. Where did you come from?’”
