Glee Cast Mark Naya Rivera’s Death And Cory Monteith’s Anniversary With Moving Tributes

'Rest in peace, Angel.'

Naya Rivera’s body has been recovered almost exactly seven years since the tragic death of another Glee star, Cory Monteith, who died due to a drug overdose.

Naya’s body was recovered in Lake Piru, Southern California, five days after she went missing. Her four-year-old son was found on the boat alone and is reported to be in good health.

As many Glee stars now mourn the tragic loss of their friend and co-star, Lea Michele is also paying tribute to her former fiancé, Cory Monteith.

Sharing some black and white images on her Instagram, Lea released never-before-seen snaps of both Naya and Cory.

Glee star and Hollywood actor, Darren Criss also remembered his friend, Naya,

“Naya made me laugh like no one else on that set,” he opened by saying.

“I always said it while we were working together and I’ve maintained it ever since. Her playful, wicked sense of humour never ceased to bring a smile to my face. She played by her own rules and was in a class of her own. She had a brashness about her that I couldn’t help but be enchanted by. I also always loved her voice, and savoured every chance I got to hear her sing. I think she had more talent than we would have ever been able to see.”

He then shared this snap on Instagram, continuing that he was “beyond gutted” by this massive and devastating loss.

Continuing with the tributes, Jane Lynch wrote: “Rest sweet, Naya. What a force you were.”

While Demo Lovato who played a cameo role in the show also expressed her sympathy writing:

“RIP Naya Rivera. I’ll forever cherish the opportunity to play your girlfriend on Glee. The character you played was groundbreaking for tons of closeted (at the time) queer girls like me, and your ambition and accomplishments were inspiring to Latina women all over the world.”

Other stars of the show who too followed suit with tributes included Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Alex Newell, Samantha Ware, Lauren Potter, and Derry native, Damian McGinty.

Marking tribute to both Naya and Cory in the one photo, Damian wrote:

“Just unbelievable. Grateful to have known you and worked with you and your talent. Look after her, big guy. RIP Naya.”
