Shakira and Jennifer Lopez broke the internet with their joint performance in 2020, Katy Perry entered pop culture history with her dancing sharks in 2015, and Beyoncé stole the show and reunited Destiny’s Child during her performance in 2013…yep those Super Bowl Halftime Shows are hella iconic.

So much so, that even though you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who understands American football, this side of the Atlantic, you’re guaranteed to hear plenty of buzz about the championship game.

But next year’s show could be one of the biggest yet, as fans think they have found some hints that Taylor Swift may be the next halftime performer. While a bizarre Taylor Swift theory is nothing new, this one actually seems pretty convincing.

There are a few pieces of evidence, firstly being the Nation Football League’s sponsorship deal.

What does a sponsorship have to do with Taylor? Well, the NFL had a long-standing sponsorship with Pepsi, and we mean LONG. They have sponsored the halftime show for a decade. So seeing as Taylor has a brand deal with Diet Coke, she wasn’t allowed to perform at the show before.

But Pepsi and the NFL’s halftime show deal has come to an end, leaving the door open for a lot of possibilities.

Okay, so Taylor CAN perform, but that doesn’t mean she will, right? Well, the evidence doesn’t end there, the halftime show now has a new sponsor, Apple Music, which Taylor has a brand deal with and is a very active endorser of.

Plus the new partnership between the NFL and Apple Music was announced at midnight…and Taylor’s upcoming album is called…Midnight. Of course, Taylor doesn’t own 12.00am, but it is pretty strange that a massive corporation like the NFL would wait until the middle of the night to make a big announcement like that, when it would get more attention during the day.

So it might be time to keep our eyes peeled for a an announcement soon!

The singer announced Midnight last month, with it being set for release on the 21st of October .

Taylor is infamous for dropping surprise new music when fans least expect it and at the VMA’s while accepting her award for Video Of The Year, for All Too Well (10-minute version) (Taylor’s version), she decided it was the right time to share the news.

During her speech she said, “I’m so honoured to have been recognised alongside such amazing artists and directors. For the first time in VMA history, four of the directors in the Video of the Year category are women. You guys, I’m just so proud of what we made… and we wouldn’t have been able to make this short film if it wasn’t for the fans.”

“I wouldn’t be able to re-record my albums if it wasn’t for you… you emboldened me to do that.

“Because you’ve been so generous, I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand-new album comes out on 21st October.”
