Here’s Everything We Know About Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s Very Low-Key Wedding
"Turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient"
Y2k kids rejoice! as Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have finally tied the knot… some 20 years later.
Even Jennifer herself admits that’s been a long time coming. Opening up about the very casual occasion in her most recent newsletter she said:
“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind.”
“And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient.”
After waiting two decades to part ways and come right back together again before making things official, how did the two finally tie the knot? In an extremely low-key ceremony in Las Vegas.
Going into detail about the night and how it was exactly how the couple imagined Jennifer continued:
“Exactly what we wanted. Last night we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world.”
“Behind us two men held hands and held each other. In front of us, a young couple who made the three hour drive from Victorville on their daughter’s second birthday—all of us wanting the same thing— for the world to recognize us as partners and to declare our love to the world through the ancient and nearly universal symbol of marriage”

Jennifer says that the two exchanged their vows at the stroke of midnight, almost missing the final call.
“We barely made it to the little white wedding chapel by midnight. They graciously stayed open late a few minutes, let us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, evidently once used by the king himself (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show, that cost extra and he was in bed)”
As for what the two wore. Jennifer says her dress was ‘from an old movie’. She had 2 dresses, one a simple boat neck gown which Jennifer’s hair stylist Chris Appleton shared on his Instagram. The dress she says she has been saving for a long time, and her wedding day felt like the perfect time to wear it.

The second dress which she wore for the ceremony was made by designer Zuhair Murad and featured long sleeves with an off-the-shoulder detail and a sweetheart neckline.
Jennifer also kept things simple with her hair and makeup, opting for a bouncy blowout and her signature bronzey makeup.
“In the end it was the best possible wedding we could have imagined. One we dreamed of long ago and one made real (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible and one another) at very, very long last”
“When love is real, the only thing that matters in marriage is one another and the promise we make to love, care, understand, be patient, loving and good to one another. We had that. And so much more. Best night of our lives.”
Congrats Jen and Ben!
