Here’s Lady Gaga’s Supremely Classy Response To Those Super Bowl ‘Stomach Fat’ Comments

She doesn't care, so why should you?

Lady Gaga followed in the footsteps of Katy Perry and Beyoncé last Sunday night with an epic performance at the Super Bowl halftime show, and she’s been dealing with her critics in a similarly epic way.

The singer’s 13-minute solo set featured a rooftop bungee jump, eight different songs and three separate outfits. One of those outfits, a white harness crop top and silver glitter shorts, garnered some – frankly ridiculous – criticism from viewers, who commented on her “flab” and “stomach rolls.”

Thankfully, Gaga found the negative comments as bullsh*t-laden as we do, and took to Instagram this morning to say as much to her 21.8m followers.

“I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I’m proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself looking downright fierce on stage on Sunday.

“No matter who you are or what you do. I could give you a million reasons why you don’t need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. Be you, and be relentlessly you. That’s the stuff of champions. thank you so much everyone for supporting me. I love you guys. Xoxo, gaga.”

WELL SAID, STEFANI JOANNE.

The singer, who spent five days in Houston prepping and dress rehearsing before taking to the stage on Sunday, also garnered criticism for the rooftop bungee at the start of her set, which some viewers said was too similar to Pink’s acrobatics at the Grammys back in 2010.

While Gaga hasn’t spoken out about those comments, it doesn’t look like she’ll need to, as Pink has already stepped in to quash any criticism.

“Let’s celebrate a woman who has the guts to jump off a roof and stand up there in the first place,” Pink wrote in an Instagram post on Monday. “Who cares if I flew first? Cause I didn’t! Cirque and Peter Pan have been in the air for years!”

Here’s hoping Gaga can finally get on with enjoying that post-show buzz now. About time.
