Here’s The Reason Ryan Gosling Didn’t Show Up To Last Night’s BAFTAs
A last minute no-show.
A host of stars took to the red carpet in London last night for the BAFTA awards, but one A-list face was notably absent.
Despite being nominated for Best Lead Actor for his role in La La Land, Ryan Gosling was MIA at last night’s awards, but it turns out he had a pretty good reason.
“Ryan had a family matter to attend to, he is sorry not to be here this evening,” his rep said of the actor’s decision not to attend. “He sends his appreciation and thanks for everything.”
Ryan’s La La Land co-star Emma Stone took home the BAFTA for Best Lead Actress, and the film scooped a further four awards for Best Film, Best Direction, Best Music and Best Cinematography.
Praising her co-stars in her Best Lead Actress acceptance speech, Emma gave a special shout-out to Ryan. “One of the greatest parts about tonight is sitting with all of these incredible people that made this film. We became such a family,” she gushed. “[Ryan] elevates everything he touches.”
Emma also referenced Donald Trump’s presidency during her speech, saying it was a “divisive” time for the US and for the world. “I think it’s really special that we were all able to come together tonight,” she continued.
It’s unclear exactly why Ryan was unable to attend the award show, but here’s hoping his wife Eva Mendes and daughters Esmeralda and Amada are all a-okay.
