Here’s The Release Date For ‘Spencer’ Plus Everything We Know So Far

The trailer has landed

Hype around the Princess Diana biopic is mounting. After it was announced that actress Kristen Stewart would be playing the lead role, fans have been waiting in anticipation for a sneak peek to drop, and finally, it’s here.

Images were released of Kristen in the role, while a trailer has also dropped recently, giving viewers a glimpse into what they can expect from the feature film.

The flick, titled Spencer, storyline will depict a three-day trip Diana once took to Sandringham in the early 1990s, where she decided to end her marriage to husband, Prince Charles.

Speaking with Deadline, the director Pablo Larrain said:

“We decided to get into a story about identity, and around how a woman decides somehow, not to be the queen.”

“She’s a woman who, in the journey of the movie, decides and realises that she wants to be the woman she was before she met Charles,” he added.

Along with the official trailer, the release date for the movie has also been revealed. Debuting first during Venise Film Festival which will take place from the 1st of September to the 11th. The film will then make its way to the big screen on November 5th, where it will be available to watch in cinemas globally.

Although cast announcements were made in the summer of 2020, production for the film did not get underway until January of this year. English actor Jack Farthing will play the role of Prince Charles.

2022 will mark the 25-year mark of Princess Diana’s tragic passing.
