Here’s Why Bella Hadid Is Easing Her Eco Anxiety By Donating 600 Trees

"It makes me sad how much my job affects my carbon footprint"

Bella Hadid has shared how she has donated 600 trees in order to help offset her carbon emissions.

Living the life of a glam supermodel involves a lot of travelling overseas, and if 2019 has taught us anything, it’s that flying is detrimental to the environment.

Speaking about her upset with the negative impact her jet-setting model lifestyle has on the plant, Bella took to Instagram to explain that owing to the travel demands of her job, she’s decided to plant 600 trees in a bid to offset her carbon footprint.

“Donating 600 trees to be planted, 20 for each flight I took these past 3 months and probably will continue for the rest of the year,” Bella said.

“I’ll be starting with my home in California ( 129 million trees need to be restored re: wildfires, 1.3 million acres burned) and of course the Amazon for the most recent wildfires, but please reach out and let me know which locations need to be shown some love as well , all regions welcome. Africa, Asia, North America, and Latin America.”

“This is so exciting and interesting to me, that even though I’m not physically there, trees are being brought to life in the most incredible places that are in demand of them! it’s the air we breathe, the water we drink, the biodiversity and animal life we need.”

Continuing she said: “It makes me sad how much my job effects my carbon footprint and… how brutally climate change is obviously effecting the world.”

Bella’s proactive approach to climate change isn’t going unnoticed by both friends and fans, with people thank her for her efforts and her celebrity peers vowing to follow in her footsteps.

A fan commented:

“Thank you so much Bella, the world needs this and you’re helping so much!”

While follow model Blanca Padilla said: “Thank you Bella for doing the research, I’ll be donating her as well.”
