“I Didn’t Know I Would Love It As Much As I Do” Michelle Visage Chats All Things Strictly, Romance, And Irish Drag Queens With STELLAR
We love a catch up with this babe
Gentlemen, start your engines: we recently caught up with Queen of the gays, Michelle Visage and chatted all things Strictly Come Dancing, breaking that infamous Strictly curse, the success of the Uk drag race, and the possibility of an Irish version of the hit show.
It’s safe to say that Michelle is a busy lady. The Uk’s version of the highly popular TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race hit British airs earlier this month, and in-between that madness Michelle has also been competing in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, busting some serious moves for our entertainment every Saturday night.
Speaking to STELLAR about how she is getting on with Strictly she said:
“I really didn’t know that I would love it as much as I do, and I feel like it’s something that I will continue to do forever, maybe not for 8 hours a day! But definitely forever!”
When asked how she feels about the infamous Strictly curse, you know the one where each year celeb contestants spark off a romance with their professional partners and end up running off together (no names, no scandal), she told us how her rock solid marriage isn’t fazed by the idea.
“Everybody asks me that question, it makes sense why people would do that, you are physically on top of someone for 8 hours, and if that’s something that is missing in your life I get it, but at the end of the day it’s not effecting me or my partner, so it’s not even on my radar, we’ve been married for 22 years.”
Michelle is of course speaking about her husband, David Case, who is an author and screenwriter, and whom she shares two daughters with, Lillie and Lola.
Conversation quickly turned to the recent launch of the UK’s version of Ru Paul’s Drag Race and the amazing reaction fans have had to the show.
“The reaction has been phenomenal” Michelle said.
“It’s exactly what I knew would happen if we did it” she continued.
When asked if Irish drag fans could hope for our own version of the show Michelle was quick to express her love for our beloved queens.
“Well, that probably won’t happen, just because we could’t even keep Ireland’s Got Talent afloat. But, at the end of the day you have got the UK one, so if you can work in the UK then bring it on, let’s have our Irish queens audition!”
Sharing the love she continued:
“I love Irish queens, Paul Ryder, Panti, Regina George, the list just goes on and on!”
You can catch Michelle shaking her thang this Saturday night on BBC one’s Strictly Come Dancing, we’re rooting for ya gal!
