“I Didn’t Want Lace, Diamanté, Or Adornments” Kathryn Thomas On Her Dream Wedding Dress
Kathryn's first dress was inspired by a Chanel gown she saw four years ago.
Kathryn Thomas has opened up about choosing her dream wedding dress, revealing that it was Chanel-inspired.
The TV presenter wed long-term love Padraig McLoughlin Kilkea Castle late last month surrounded by 200 of their nearest and dearest including daughter Ellie and Padraig’s son Conor.
When it came to the big day, fans waited patiently to get a first look at Kathryn’s wedding dress.
She opted for a Umit Kutluk gown for the ceremony followed by a dress by Helen Cody for the evening.
Speaking about the looks, Kathryn said: “They really were the dresses of my dreams.”
“Myself and Umit Kutluk designed the bridal dress. I knew exactly what I wanted as I had seen a kind of similar sort of Chanel style dress from a couture show four years ago,” she told VIP Magazine.

The Operation Transformation host went on to explain that she wanted something classic and elegant.
“I wanted something really simple and I wanted a really dramatic back with a giant oversized bow. I wanted pockets; I didn’t want anything shiny, any lace, any diamanté, any adornments, I just wanted it to be really simple and pared-back, a sort of architectural look,” she explained.
Kathryn kept the rest of the look simple, with minimal jewellery and stunning headpiece.
She continued: “Umit is just so talented and I’d worked with him before. It was a lot of over and back in terms of getting the structure right but I absolutely loved it. It was my favourite dress I have ever worn. Laura Kinsella did my headpiece which we also designed together and it was really simple but sort of architectural as well. Another masterpiece.”
