A New York-based model has admitted to pretending to be transgender to stop backlash from coming her way.

Carissa Pinkston, who has worked for brands like Savage x Fenty and Marc Jacobs, was accused of being transphobic after facebook posts of hers were shared.

They included comments like ‘Being Transgender does NOT make you a woman. It makes you simply Transgender,’ and ‘This is how they want to be perceived. In a biological context, there are Females and Males. This is the world in 2019.’

These posts were from May of this year.

After backlash from people and being fired from jobs, Carissa took to social media claiming that she was just uncomfortable with her own identity and that she was, in fact, a transgender woman.

“I wasn’t ready to come out about it yet, but today I got fired and I’ve been receiving hate mail and death threats ever since, so I’m being forced to tell the truth. I’m Transgender,” she said in a note.

“I transitioned at a very young age and I’ve lived my life as a Female ever since. It’s been very hard to keep this secret but what I said about Trans-Women is a direct reflection of my inner insecurities and I have since come to realize that I am a Woman… WE ALL ARE!”

Thought this post was two months after her initial comments, it didn’t take long for people to find holes in her story.

Model Aaron Phillips called Carissa out for lying because she knows her in person.

Followers noticed that Carissa’s friend and fellow model Aleece Wilson or Odd Freckles on Instagram also claimed Carissa was making it up.

Just days later, it seems that Carissa couldn’t keep up with the lie, and so she admitted to lying about the whole thing.

“I apologize for any transphobic remark I’ve ever made towards the Trans community. I panicked and I thought if I came out as Trans that I could somehow make things better for myself but it appears I’ve only made things worse,” she said. [Sorry but how did she think this would fix things?]

“I’m truly sorry. I’m only 20 and I’m human,” she added. “I make mistakes but I refuse to let them define me. I hope you all can forgive me and move on from this because I’m so much more than this incident and I’m not a coward.”

Have you managed to keep up so far? Well now, she’s deleted her apology posts from Instagram.

Who knows what’ll happen next?!
