Following on from the success of Normal People, it looks like another Irish author is about to bring her bestselling novel to the screen.

Naoise Donlan’s Exciting Times is set to be made into a movie and well, there’s plenty of reports around one certain star taking on the leading role.

Having just finished filming the second season of Bridgerton – a series that made history with the highest ratings Netflix has ever seen, the 27-year-old has also signed a deal for two more projects, starring in the thriller I Heart Murder, as well as a Sky Cinema flick titled The Colour Room.

So, one would presumably think how does this woman have time to fit in anything else? But Phoebe clearly has her schedule tactically laid out.

Not only is Phoebe set to take on the leading role of Ava, but there’s talks she’s executively producing the hit flick too.

The synopsis, without giving too much away follows a millennial Irish expat who becomes entangled in a love triangle with a male banker and a female lawyer.

Having been described as “politically alert, heartbreakingly raw, and dryly funny,” Exciting Times is certainly going to be the tonic we need when it comes to our screens.

And speaking above of Sally Rooney, her second novel Conversations With Friends is being shot in Ireland as we speak, so prepare for that coming at you soon too.

Yep, it’s exciting times – pardon the pun, and we cannot wait for what’s in store.
