"Those movies are ridiculous". Ouch!

Jacob Elordi found his fame through his breakout role as Noah Flynn in The Kissing Booth.

However, the Euphoria star doesn’t look back on the teen films with fondness – in fact, he’s got no love for them at all!

In an interview with GQ yesterday, Jacob revealed that he “didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies.

“Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape,” he continued.

Jacob then went on to explain that he feels he’s done his part when it comes to taking on projects that will be commercially successful but not interesting to him.

Referring to the idea that you do ‘one for them, one for you’ (one for the audience and one for yourself), Jacob insisted he isn’t bothered with that anymore.

“Because it can become 15 for them, none for you. You have no original ideas and you’re dead inside. So, it’s a fine dance.

“My ‘one for them,’ I’ve done it.”

Yikes! That’s a pretty firm position, though we have to respect his honesty.

His position spreads to superhero franchises too – Jacob revealed that he was asked to read for Superman, but has zero interest in those set ups.

“Obviously anything can happen, but at this stage in my life, I don’t see myself having any interest in that,” he confessed. “I like to make what I would watch, and I get very restless watching those movies.”

Well, it’s no doubt the actor has stepped away from cheesy people pleasers, with some serious dramas now under his belt.

He stars in the upcoming psychological thriller Saltburn alongside a star studded cast, including the likes of Rosamund Pike and Barry Keoghan.

He also plays Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola’s new film Priscilla, a role that’s being heavily scrutinised thanks to the previous focus on Austin Butler’s portrayal of the iconic musician.

That doesn’t scare Jacob though, he tells GQ.

“It’s terribly exciting…running into the fire a little bit. I can’t think of anything more exhilarating.”

We can’t wait to see what he gets up to!
