Jamie Foxx Pens Heartbreaking Tribute To His Sister As She Passes Away Aged 36

The actor took to Instagram last night to break the news.

Jamie Foxx has announced the death of his younger sister DeOndra Dixon.

Sharing a selection of photos of DeOndra to social media, Jamie posted the tribute on Monday night, with sources reporting that DeOndra passed away on 19 October.

“My heart is shattered into a million pieces… my beautiful loving sister Deondra has transitioned… I say transitioned because she will always be alive… anyone who knew my sis… knew that she was a bright light…” Jamie began by saying.

Continuing, the Oscar-winning actor honoured DeOndra’s incredible energy and noted that he knows she’s dancing in heaven right now.

“Well I know she is in heaven now dancing with her wings on… tho my pain is unbelievable I smile when I think of all of the great memories that she left me… my family… and her friends… from dancing in the blame it video… to Dancing on the Grammys… And becoming The ambassador to @globaldownsyndrome… from sliding down my stairs with a grin as wide as the rio grand… to serenading us with all of her music…,” Jamie added.

DeOndra became the brand ambassador for the Global Down Syndrome Foundation in 2011. Completing in the Special Olympics for almost a decade, DeOndra was noted as a phenomenal dancer, “born to dance” by her close-knit family.

Living in California near her brother, Jamie Foxx, DeOndra apparently thought Jamie the meaning of what it is to live. Speaking in an interview on Dateline in 2018 with Kate Snow, the 52-year-old admitted that sometimes when he got caught up on trivial life matters, DeOndra always brought him back down to Earth and what actually mattered.

“‘I just want to live. I want to dance. I want to love.’ So she brings you back down to what life is.”

Also sharing heartbreak over the loss of her aunt, was Jamie’s 26-year-old daughter Corinne Foxx.

Posting a selection of photos online, Corinne said that DeOndra was a joy for anyone who got the pleasure to meet her, “sent straight from God as a gift to my family.”
