JLS Star Oritse Williams Has Been Charged With Rape

The 31-year-old singer was arrested by police on the 2nd of December 2016

JLS singer Oritse Williams has been charged with raping a 20-year-old fan in his hotel room after a concert in 2016.

The 31-year-old singer was arrested by police on the 2nd of December 2016 in Wolverhampton the morning after performing in the city.

The singer was bailed several times before his charge. His friend Jamien Nagadhana was also charged with sexual assault over the same alleged attack.
West Midlands Police confirmed to Metro.co.uk: “Police have charged two men with sexual offences following an allegation of rape at a Wolverhampton hotel in December 2016.”

According to the complainant, Oritsé invited her and her friend back to a hotel where they had started drinking, however the girls left to get a taxi home. They returned to get a handbag that had been forgotten and that is when the alleged rape happened.

Oritse denied the claims via a statement from his management shortly afterwards.

The statement from 10 Worlds Music UK said:

Oritse denies the allegations against him. The matter is in the hands of the police and it would be totally wrong for us to comment any further.

Oritse was promoting his solo album at the time.
