John Mayer Has Finally Broken His Silence Over Jessica Simpson’s Memoir

"I lived it. And I think that’s prescient here."

The time has come where John Mayer has finally spilled the tea on whether he’s read Jessica Simpson’s memoir, Open Book. If you’ve sat down to enjoy the book yourself, you’ll probably think that John Mayer isn’t exactly the target audience for Open Book.

Back in the day, Jessica and John dated for about a year, and now Jessica has opened up about the relationship, reflecting on how toxic it was. She spoke about how John would tell her over and over again how obsessed he was with her, and how the whole relationship was unhealthy, “Again and again, he told me he was obsessed with me, sexually and emotionally.” she wrote, adding that she was “constantly worried that I wasn’t smart enough for him. He was so clever and treated conversation like a friendly competition that he had to win.” When John called her “sexual napalm” in his 2010 Playboy interview, she called it mortifying. “He thought that was what I wanted to be called. I was floored and embarrassed that my grandmother was actually gonna read that. A woman and how they are in bed is not something that is ever talked about. It was shocking.”

Now, John has broken his silence on Open Book, during his appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. In a game of Never Have I Ever, he was asked whether or not he’s picked up a copy of the book, “I’ve heard about it. I’ve heard some bits,” he said. “But as Pee Wee Herman says in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure before the movie of his life is about to play out at the end, he’s not watching the movie, and the reason he’s not watching the movie, he says, ‘I don’t have to watch it, Dottie, I lived it.’ And I think that’s prescient here.”

We’re gonna go out on a limb here and say that John Mayer won’t be spending his time reading Jessica’s memoir while on lockdown.
