K-pop Star Sulli Has Been Found Dead In Her Home In South Korea

She was just 25 years old

The K-pop star Sulli has been found dead at her home near Seoul, South Korea.

Korean police confirmed the news earlier today, but are yet to release details about the cause of death.

Sulli, who was once a member of the South Korean girl group f(x), took a hiatus from the band back in 2014 as she suffered enormous amounts of online abuse and trolling.

The hiatus lead to Sulli making the decision to leave the band and instead pursue a career in acting. Dealing with fame from a young age, Sulli, at the age of 11, shot to fame as she played the character of Princess Seonhwa of Silla in the SBS drama Ballad of Seodong. However, she admitted to finding it increasingly difficult to handle the pressure she was put under as her stardom rose.

The outspoken superstar has previously spoken about her struggle with mental health issues, previously telling her then 5 million Instagram followers that she had a panic disorder and social phobia.

Friends and fans of the star have been taking to social media to share their shock and sadness from hearing of the news.

Sulli’s former bandmate, Amber Liu shared her upset at the situation.

While Sulli’s exact cause of death is still unknown, this is not the first unexpected death in the k-pop world.

Korean boy band star, Jonghyun took his own life back in 2017 at the age of just 27, of whom Sulli paid tribute to at his funeral.
