Keira Knightley Has ‘Banned’ Her Daughter From Watching ‘Sexist’ Disney Movies

"Do not give your voice up for a man."

Keira Knightley revealed she has forbidden her 3-year-old daughter from watching certain Disney movies, despite the fact that she will happily act in Disney movies herself.

The 33-year-old confessed on The Ellen Degeneres Show on Tuesday that she isn’t a fan of every movie the studio has produced because they do not uphold her feminist values.

Keira told Ellen she has banned her daughter from watching Disney’s Cinderella and The Little Mermaid.

Cinderella, released in 1950, is “banned,” she said, “because she waits around for a rich guy to rescue her. Don’t! Rescue yourself. Obviously! And this is the one that I’m quite annoyed about because I really like the film, but Little Mermaid [is banned, too]. I mean, the songs are great, but do not give your voice up for a man. Hello!”

We’re all for feminism, however Keira’s comments come a bit rich seeing as she played a damsel in distress in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean. The actress will also star in Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms which will be released in November. So we can only presume Disney aren’t too happy with her telling people not to watch their films rn.

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan wasn’t having a bar of Keira’s choices, saying it was a “load of flannel”.

A poll by the show revealed 92 per cent of viewers agreed with him..for once.
