Kelly Clarkson Sang and Hosted The Billboard Music Awards Then Left To Get Her Appendix Out

Wow okay!

If ever you questioned Kelly Clarkon’s message of strength in her songs, she proved it this week.

The singer was hosting The Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday night Las Vegas for the second year in a row, and opened the show with a medley of nominated songs. Later in the show she sang her new song Broken & Beautiful, so it’s fair to say she had a very busy night.

This is made all the more impressive now that she reveals she had crippling stomach pain all night, which turned out to be appendicitis.

Kelly confirmed this in a tweet on Thursday when she revealed that she left the show to fly home to LA and have surgery that morning.

“Not gonna lie…. I may or may not have broken down in tears after the show from pain. BUT thanks 2 all the amazing people @ Cedars-Sinai, I flew home directly after the event, nailed the surgery early this morning, & feeling awesome now!” she revealed. “Bye bye appendix #TheShowMustGoOn”

ET Online reports that she’d been having stomach pains all week, but just got on with it, until after the award show, and in true getting-on-with-it fashion, she plans on returning to The Voice on Monday, on which she is a judge.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, I guess!
