Kesha Has Revealed How Making Music Helped Her Depression And We LOVE Her For It

She is staying strong in the face of adversity

Kesha has come back with new music for the first time since her legal battle with music producer Dr. Luke hit the headlines early last year. The video for her new single Praying was released on VEVO yesterday and already has well over 7 million views.

As Kesha, most well known for her album Animal, was ordered to continue working with producer Dr. Luke following allegations of sexual harrassment and gender based inequality, she has since been suffering with depression and other mental health issues.

For the first time since the high court dismissed her case, Kesha has spoken about her process of making music and how it has helped her to deal with her depression.

“I would roll out of bed, get in my car and show up to the studio,” she explained. “And I would just keep making songs. That was my way to cope.” Kesha told Sirius XM Radio.

“I wrote a song about it, so let’s talk about it.”

“I think it’s healthy to talk about feeling really down sometimes because life can be a f*cking b*tch sometimes. And I think the beautiful part is that you hold onto hope … and you keep showing up for yourself.”

Props to Kesha for being such a prominent role model.
