Kim Kardashian Set To Release Documentary On Criminal Justice Reform
Is there anything Kim Kardashian can't do?
Style icon, business owner, reality TV star, mother, lawyer, is there anything Kim Kardashian can’t do?
Kim has been very vocal about the fact that the US criminal justice system needs to be reformed. Specifically she has used her platform to help those considered to be unfairly sentenced for their crimes.
Back in 2018 she helped to successfully commute the sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, imprisoned since 1996. She did this by using her celebrity and considerable power in social circles to petition President Trump directly.
This has become a huge passion of hers and only last year she announced she is studying law and plans to take her exams in 2022. When asked why she felt the need to study it herself she said “I just felt like the system could be so different, and I wanted to fight to fix it, and if I knew more, I could do more.”
A documentary will be released in April of this year called Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project. It will follow Kim behind the scenes as her and other lawyers examine four cases where they believe the prisoners has been sentenced unfairly.
By using her platform this way she is giving a voice to those who don’t have the resources or the support to do this themselves; “There are a lot of people who deserve a second chance, but many do not have the resources to make it happen.”
In the trailer Kim says “I went into this knowing nothing, and then my heart opened up.”
