Kim Kardashian Wins Legal Battle To Be Declared Single

It’s a big day for Kim Kardashian, as she is now officially recognised as a single woman. At least, in the eyes of the law, that is.

According to TMZ, a judge granted the KUWTK star’s request to end her marriage to Kanye West during a court hearing, and she’ll now be able to drop her ex’s last name altogether.

They continued to state that Kim appeared via video call for the hearing, but Kanye was absent on the day itself. It’s reported that Kanye didn’t object to Kim’s status on three conditions.

The first, which was granted by the judge, was that any money owed by either party be reimbursed in case either of them dies.

Two other conditions were rejected, which were that Kim would not transfer any assets she had in trust, and the second that she waive “marital privilege” that a new spouse would have not to testify about communications he had with her.

At the hearing, Kim was asked “Are there problems in your relationship?”, which she replied there was. Secondly, she was asked, “Do you think your marriage can be saved with counselling?” To which she simply replied “no”.

In December of 2021, it was reported by TMZ that Kim filed legal documents requesting that a judge declare her legally single amid her and Kanye’s ongoing divorce. So basically, before any other issues related to the divorce – such as child custody, property, etc, she wants to settle the issue of her legal marital status.

TMZ shared that Kim also requested that her “maiden name be restored,” so she’s officially done and dusted with being a West.
