Kristen Stewart Is Set To Play Princess Diana In An Upcoming Biopic
But, not everyone is happy with the casting
Hollywood actress Kristen Stewart is set to play the role of Diana, Princess of Wales in an upcoming biopic.
The film, entitled ‘Spencer’ and written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, will follow the story of Princess Diana’s turbulent life, paying particular focus on the time she realised her marriage to Charles wasn’t working.
Speaking with Deadline, the director Pablo Larrain said:
“We decided to get into a story about identity, and around how a woman decides somehow, not to be the queen.”
“She’s a woman who, in the journey of the movie, decides and realises that she wants to be the woman she was before she met Charles,” he added.
The decision to cast Kristen as the lead role, however, has caused some confusion among fans, with many questioning her ability to play the role true to character.

Director Pablo defends their choice, explaining that he believes she is a perfect fit:
“Kristin can be many things, and she can be very mysterious and very fragile an ultimately very strong as well, which is what we need,”
Kristen is not new to the world of biopics, as she most recently played the role of late actress Jean Seberg in the film Seberg, winning her over rave reviews.
A release date has not yet been decided on as production is still not yet underway, but we’ll keep you updated.
